Event Type

Join your colleagues at the UC Berkeley Center for Science, Technology, Medicine, and Society for a two-part workshop on expanding your scholarship beyond the academy. This series is aimed at graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, visiting scholars, and faculty members whose work engages with social and historical aspects of science. You may participate no matter your familiarity with public writing practices and strategies; in fact, we encourage people at all levels of experience to share their work! Our first session will help the participants to explore ways that their subject could be presented to a wider public audience. By the end, we anticipate that attendees will have the tools necessary to draft an op ed or review article. The second session will bring the participants together to workshop these drafts. By the end, we hope to have attendees leave with draft feedback that will prepare these articles for submission.
