My research looks at the emergence of entrepreneurial translational research and a new, local bio-economy at UCSF's Mission Bay.  My work is at the intersection of medical anthropology and science and technology studies.  I am interested in how the rise of biotechnologies, the commercialization of research practices, and the transformations of scientists into entrepreneurs is transforming academic medicine.  My dissertation focuses on the implications of an innovation-driven science on the practices and possibilities of medicine.
