Xiaoshun Zeng researches the history of medicine and public health in modern China, and he is especially interested in the intersection of disease, socialism, and race and ethnicity in the Chinese context. His current book project, "Diagnosing Minorities: STD Control and Nation-state Building on the Ethnic Frontiers of Modern China," studies the history of syphilis eradication campaigns in Inner Mongolia and the Tibetan regions in Mao-era China. Xiaoshun is currently an academic coordinator at the CSTMS and a lecturer in the Department of History. He teaches courses in Chinese history and the history of science, technology, and medicine in East Asia.
