Andrew is an S.V. Ciriacy-Wantrup Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Anthropology at UC Berkeley, affiliated with the Center for Southeast Asia Studies (CSEAS) and the Center for Science, Technology, Medicine, and Society (CSTMS). His research draws on historical and social studies of science, environment, and finance. His book project examines the work of earth and actuarial scientists across different stages of risk transfer, exploring varied practices in valuation and liability. The project is based on ethnographic research in Singapore, Indonesia, and Hong Kong, engaging with analytics and services firms as well as both private and public science agencies.
