Barbara Zagorc is a Ph.D. Candidate and Researcher specializing in Urban Sociology. She is passionate about exploring the complex social and political dynamics that shape urban environments.

Barbara’s research examines the interplay between dominant urban initiatives and resistance movements, investigating how these interactions influence the transformation of cities in the U.S. She delves into critical topics such as power dynamics in space production, the emergence of resistance and the creation of common spaces, public engagement and storytelling in urban planning, knowledge production and media, homelessness, and the privatization of public spaces.

Currently, Barbara is conducting a case study on changing narratives and power dynamics related to Berkeley’s People’s Park, which forms a key part of her Ph.D. thesis.
