Dr. Lisa Walther is currently a Visiting Scholar at the Center for Science, Technology, Medicine and Society (CSTMS) at University of California, Berkeley. In her research position at the Leibniz Center of Science and Society, she focuses on knowledge transfer in biomedical research at universities and non-university research institutions in Germany, where she designs and conducts qualitative case studies. These studies have raised questions about the methodology of case studies, inspiring her to develop a novel methodological approach to qualitative case studies in the social sciences.
In addition to her research activities, she regularly teaches a Ph.D. workshop on advanced methods of higher education and science studies in collaboration with Prof. Dr. Anna Kosmützky.
Dr. Lisa Walther studied Business, Economics and Social Sciences at the Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU) as well as Science and Society at Leibniz University Hannover. In 2023, she received her Ph.D. in sociology from the Leibniz University Hannover for her dissertation on the role of quality assurance measures in professorial appointment procedures at state universities in Germany.
