I am an associate professor at the University of Washington’s Information School in Seattle where I teach courses in data policy, information ethics, and infrastructure studies. Much of my research has used historical and ethnographic approaches to study information infrastructures for publics in crisis. I wrote Documenting Aftermath: Information Infrastructures in the Wake of Disasters (MIT Press).
