Research interests:
My research consists of a long-term, multi-sited ethnography of the global container shipping industry. The project critiques conventional understandings of maritime shipping, which posit containerization as a technology of global speed-up. I argue that this accelerationist narrative ignores both the lived experiences of commercial seafarers and the contested history of maritime labor markets.
