Philipp is working on his MSc Thesis in History and Philosophy of Science from Utrecht University. His thesis explores the intersection of social science and physics research and the interaction between these fields. It explores what kind of relationship exists between these disciplines, specifically in regard to methods and concepts imported from physics. Is there evidence for a culture of physics- or data-imperialism? Starting from a commentary on modern interdisciplinary science and its underlying understanding of scientific unity, the thesis interrogates this trend in physics and its reaches into further afield disciplines such as criminology, sociology, and psychology.

Philipp’s favorite things to do in Berkeley are roaming around the beautiful campus, taking long bike rides down to SF, and meeting new people.
