Elena's research aims at investigating how to improve the way design practitioners and researchers design interventions, case studies, products, or services aimed at an aging society. Elena is actively interested in understanding how positive emotions can pose a pivotal element in the design process and how they can help to overcome implicit ageism while designing. Her published works focus on how to improve our everyday language and use storytelling to address ageism in the design process.
Elena is a doctoral student at Aalto University's School of Arts, Design, and Architecture. She graduated in Design from the University of the Arts London, at Central Saint Martins College of Arts and Design. She is a member of the Swiss Doctoral School in Affective Sciences (CISA) at the University of Geneva, Switzerland, and a Visiting Scholar at the Centre for Science, Technology, Medicine, and Society in the Program for the Medical Humanities, at the University of California Berkeley.
