Mr. Ilyas Manakkadavan is a PhD candidate with the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences at the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay. His research falls in the area of medical anthropology, in which he attempts to understand the intertwined aspects of assisted reproductive technologies, religion, kinship, and the state. Focusing on reproductive clinics and the Muslim population in Kerala, Mr. Ilyas tries to unravel the negotiations of techno-science with religion, state and other social institutions.

As part of Fulbright Fellowship at CSTMS, Mr. Ilyas is engaged in a trans-disciplinary study about the history and growth of techno-scientific knowledge and practice with special reference to reproductive medicine and reproductive technology.
