James Quick

CSTMS Research Unit: Berkeley Program in Science and Technology Studies

Quick's plan is to conduct research at the intersection of his interests in computing, theory, new media, politics, and globalization. He approaches these issues from a philosophy of technology perspective informed and mediated by interests in contemporary social and political philosophy. Within the philosophy of technology, he is working on the thesis that technology is the natural way in which humans interact with the world, thus overcoming the long-standing myth that techne and physis (technology and the natural world) are somehow opposed.
