Lupita Rodriguez serves as the Supervising Communication Specialist at the Center for Science, Technology, Medicine & Society (CSTMS) at UC Berkeley, where she oversees all visual and written communications. As the center’s principal web designer, she led the complete migration to a new digital platform, blending technical skill with thoughtful design to improve user experience and accessibility. Her expertise includes web development, article writing, graphic design, and strategic communication. Lupita has gained proficiency in HTML and JavaScript, focusing on enhancing web accessibility by auditing and fixing WordPress code to ensure ADA compliance. Lupita earned an Associate of Arts in Sociology from Hartnell College and a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from UC Berkeley. She is currently pursuing graduate studies in Speech-Language Pathology, where her research centers on the intersection of technology and communication disorders. Her work investigates the effectiveness of telepractice for diverse populations, such as children with apraxia of speech in rural areas and the remote implementation challenges of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) for non-verbal children with cerebral palsy.
