Lupita Rodriguez is the Supervising Communication Specialist at the Center for Science, Technology, Medicine & Society (CSTMS) at UC Berkeley, where she leads all visual and written communications. As the center’s lead web designer, she spearheaded the complete transition to a new digital platform, combining technical expertise with thoughtful design to enhance user experience and accessibility. Her skill set spans web development, article writing, graphic design, and strategic communications. In her role, Lupita has developed proficiency in HTML and JavaScript, with a focus on enhancing web accessibility by identifying and correcting WordPress code to align with ADA compliance standards. Lupita received her Associate of Arts in Sociology from Hartnell College and her Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from UC Berkeley. She is currently pursuing graduate studies in Speech-Language Pathology, where her research interests focus on the intersections of technology and communication disorders. Specifically, she explores the effectiveness of telepractice for diverse populations, including children with apraxia of speech in rural settings and the challenges of implementing AAC remotely for non-verbal children with cerebral palsy. Her methodological approaches include mixed methods, incorporating usability testing, surveys, qualitative interviews, and randomized controlled trials.
