All students and advisors associated with CSTMS are welcome to attend this workshop on how to apply for the NSF’s Doctoral Dissertation Improvement Grants. Prof. Cathryn Carson will talk about the process and components, and we will go over some past successful grants. If any of you have already started thinking about applying and have a draft text, please bring it to the workshop as well.
Preparation for the workshop:
- Please have a cursory look at the Program Solicitation for SBE Doctoral Dissertation Research Improvement Grants (SBE DDRIG)
- Review the panoply of UC Berkeley forms and expectations
Main takeaways from the workshop:
- How an NSF DDIG is different from other proposals you’ve written
- Reviewing the obligatory components, and what matters about each of them
- Reviewing the logistics of getting it submitted (Fastlane, SPO your advisor)
