CSTMS scholars attended the second of two “Valuation Studies” workshops, hosted by the University of Oslo’s Centre for Technology, Innovation and Culture (TIK), and funded by the Peder Sather Center. On June 8, participants discussed a wide range of in-depth research presentations, showcasing the diversity of approaches and research topics within the emergent field focusing on the practices and politics of values and valuation. Many of the participants will reconvene at the annual 4S Meeting in Denver, where they will present refined versions of the papers workshopped in Oslo.  On June 9, organizers of the workshops focused on next steps: reviewing the exciting collection of papers submitted to the 4S open session (#56: Valuation Studies: The Processes and Politics of Valuing in the World), and discussing preliminary ideas for a collected volume with contributions from participants and other scholars working on values and valuing.
