CSTMS hosted the first of two “Valuation Studies” workshops, funded by the Peder Sather Center, from December 10-12, 2014. Co-organized with the University of Oslo’s Centre for Technology, Innovation and Culture (TIK), the workshop brought together scholars from Norway, Sweden, Canada, and Berkeley to discuss this emergent field focusing on the practices and politics of values and valuation. Presentations and round tables facilitated exchanges of works-in-progress as well as methods and approaches to studying values and valuation across multiple disciplines and research topics.
The new journal Valuation Studies, launched with participation by CSTMS and TIK affiliated scholars, was presented as a platform for new publications. The following workshop, hosted by TIK in 2015, will organize a discussion of publications as well as ongoing collaborations between the Nordic countries and Berkeley.
