CSTMS affiliate, Jameson Karns has recently co-authored a book titled Carl Alwin Schenck Memoiren 1868 – 1887 – Carl A. Schenck, Sir Dietrich Brandis und Gifford Pinchot: Väter der amerikanischen Forstwirtschaft. Carl Alwin Schenck was a pioneer in conveying European ideas of forestry to North America. His teacher was Sir Dietrich Brandis, who was appointed by the British Crown as General Forest Inspector of British India and Burma and had laid the foundations for today’s forestry in India for many years.
