Winners of the American Historical Association’s 2024 prizes were awarded at the AHA’s 138th annual meeting, which took place in New York City from January 3–6, 2025.
The current recipient for the Helen and Howard R. Marraro Prize in Italian History or Italian-American Relations is Massimo Mazzotti (University of California, Berkeley) for Reactionary Mathematics: A Genealogy of Purity (University of Chicago Press, 2023)
The Helen & Howard R. Marraro Prize is one of three annual awards for the best book on Italian history, Italian cultural history, or Italo-American cultural relations established by Howard R. Marraro (b. 1897). Marraro made bequests to the American Historical Association, the American Catholic Historical Association, and the Society for Italian Historical Studies to allow each association to award a prize.
Massimo Mazzotti, https://cstms.berkeley.edu/people/massimo-mazzotti, is the Director of the STS DE program at CSTMS. Professor Mazzotti is also the Thomas M. Siebel Presidential Chair in the History of Science. He was the Director of CSTMS for a decade, from 2013 to 2023.
