Looking to fulfill a Science, Technology, and Society (STS) minor requirement this summer? HISTORY C182A – Science, Technology, and Society is now being offered during Summer Session A (Six Weeks: May 27 – July 3, 2025) in a fully online format!

This class will be meeting Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays from 10:00 AM – 12:29 PM online.

About the Course:

Where do science and technology come from? How did they become the most authoritative forms of knowledge in our society? How do technology, culture, and society shape one another? HISTORY C182A explores these fundamental questions, examining the evolution of science and technology across different historical periods. Topics include the rise of science in modernity, intersections between science, magic, religion, and art, the forces driving technological change, and the social and historical contexts that shape innovation.

By the end of this course, students will develop a deeper understanding of how science and technology influence the way we live and how they are, in turn, shaped by historical and social factors.

The core course is frequently impacted so be sure to enroll now through CalCentral!
